Welcome to the Common Café and
Tavern...no longer Rumney's best kept
secret. We offer a warm, inviting, and
friendly place to eat breakfast, lunch, or
dinner.
Enjoy our cozy indoor area or take to the
outdoor veranda to eat in the open air.
Relax with delicious coffee and a pastry or
bagel; a breakfast sandwich, eggs and a
wide selection of other menu items. We offer
something for everyone's lunch taste from
salads to paninis to soups. Our pizzas are handcrafted and like nothing
you will find in the area.
On the second floor, the Tavern offers casual dining with outstanding
dinner entrees, along with our fantastic pizzas, and a bar. Come in for
relaxation with friends and family. Join us for live music on selected
nights.

The plan was to stop at Dunks for breakfast/filling up bottles with hot
water before our day of ice climbing. One of the guys that goes just
about every week amended our plan to this place when we decided to
go to Rumney Cliffs instead of our intended location (due to it being a
touch chilly). As soon as I walked in I knew it was a good choice. Very
spacious and welcoming. Wood floors, antiques everywhere and a
cute corner with tables and comfy reading chairs that was perfect for
getting our gear ready for the day. The owner was talking and joking
with us and clearly used to climbing costumers (apparently he has a
small climbing store above the restaurant). He joked that we should
come back at lunch to warm up as long as we remembered to take off
our crampons. He also mentioned that he had rooms available....$25
a night. We all looked at each other and at the same time said, "Did
he say $25 or $125...?" He said $25... (not sure how much it would be
in the summer)
The owner was also the person taking orders and making the food
behind the counter and when I looked at the chalk menu and asked,
"What is in a grilled breakfast sandwich?" he smiled and said,
"anything you want!" and proceeded to rattle off a huge list of items
from which I picked egg (fried over hard), sausage, cheese and
tomato on an everything bagel - grilled of course. It.was.so.good. We
kept saying, "so much better than Dunkin' Donuts (sorry Dunks)!" I
meant to eat half and then put on my boots, but I had trouble putting it
down. So deliciously toasty and full of flavor! They have a "pay when
you are done enjoying your food" policy, but as I'm not used to this
and was afraid I would walk out without remembering to pay, I paid as
soon as I got my food. Strange to ask someone if I can pay for my
food.
I just got the grilled breakfast sandwich (although the hot chocolate
was very tempting), but they have a bunch of other breakfast options
as well as having a lunch menu and a ton of desserts/pastries. If (or
when I should say) I go back to Rumney I plan on stopping here again
for sure!

“We serve an awesome

dinner with great prices.
Lattes, Cappuccinos and
Chai Tea make for a
special treat.
Try our handcrafted
Pizza ... you will not be
disappointed!
We used to be the best-kept secret in Rumney Village; come see
why that has been changing. We pack ‘em in so don’t wait to
have fruit-filled crepes with homemade beans; or lunch with
made-to-order Panini sandwiches and Wraps. How about a
Grilled Chicken Salad or a Tuna Panini with a choice Tapenade
Spread? Our dinners are superb and you can enjoy them with
your choice of drink from our bar.
